Phoenicia Hotel Beirut Wraps Up Celebrating their 50th Anniversary

Phoenicia Hotel Beirut celebrated its 50th anniversary by throwing a one of a kind event, the likes of which has never  been hosted before in any luxury hotel in Lebanon. For their golden jubilee, the Phoenicia will be creating a tribute to Beirut, by exhibiting some of Lebanon’s most gifted artists and performers.  The festival of creative arts will start on Wednesday the 14th till Sunday the 18th, where the hotel will literally be transformed into a platform for Lebanese artists to showcase their work throughout the hotel.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the most recognized hospitality landmarks in the country, and the region. The Phoenicia Beirut, after 8 year of hard work, the passion project of Najib Salha finally opened its doors to the world in 1961 and quickly became a favorite of the world’s gliterazzi. The hotel has become a symbolic Icon of Lebanese luxurious hospitality and taste, a proud monument representative of Beirut’s glamorous days on the shores of Mediterranean.

Years later, as Beirut rose from its war torn remains, “La Grande Dame”, as the Phoenicia was baptized long ago, also came back to life, becoming once again the shining beacon of elegant hospitality that made the capital city of Lebanon famous the world over.  It was this symbiotic relationship with the city that helped give the inspiration for this mammoth event being held all over the hotel.

“What better way to celebrate such a momentous event, then by creating a tribute festival for Phoenicia’s host city, Beirut” stated the hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Georg Weinlaender. “Being that Beirut is the region’s capital of creativity and inspirational leader for so many, it was only fitting that we organize an event that offered the best and brightest a platform to share their work with the rest of the country” he added.

The festival will be presenting exhibitors from the worlds of fashion, art, jewelry, architecture, dance and musical performers, from both established and upcoming artists from all ages. The four day exhibition will be launched by a surprise unveiling that will be talked about for years to come. “This festival is a lot more than just a celebration. It is a statement of Phoenicia’s commitment to always delivering the best, in the most tasteful of settings with the most elegant of formulas” Mr. Weinlaender concluded. “It is proof that we are and will always be, younger than ever.”
