Under the patronage of His Excellency Minister of Tourism, Mr. Michel Pharaon, Hospitality Services launched the 22nd edition of HORECA, the annual meeting point for professionals in the hospitality and foodservice industries. The event started on Monday, April 20, and will run through April 23, 2015, in BIEL, Beirut. The opening was in the presence of prominent figures, including ambassadors, presidents of syndicates and professional associations, exhibiting partners, as well as the media corps.
In his speech during the opening ceremony, Minister Pharaon considered this annual event one that challenges all odds on the Lebanese scene. Pharaon further added that HORECA is not only a forum for connoisseurs in the art of hospitality and food services in the Middle East, but has also become a staple for each person interested in the world of hospitality and food, and has left an indelible imprint on tourism in Lebanon. According to Pharaon, the event is a uniting occasion during which tourism establishments, hotels and restaurants all meet under the banner of good taste and safe nutrition.
Joumana Dammous-Salamé, Managing Director of Hospitality Services, stressed HORECA’s encouragement and support of local talent and young professionals in the hospitality field through various competitions, saying, “The focus of the event this year will be on the appreciation of skills and innovation, as well as rewarding creativity and the art of Lebanese cooking and the most prominent Lebanese chefs, who will share recipes and take their achievements beyond the borders. The participating chefs will also have the opportunity to share recipes and exhibit their success before attendees from different parts of the world and promulgate Lebanese heritage through live cooking demonstrations by famous Lebanese chefs.”
Three different exhibitions will take place under the dome of HORECA this year: The International Food, Beverage & Hospitality Exhibition, The International Food Exhibition, and the Beirut Wine and Spirits Exhibition.
The exhibition will see the participation of 350 exhibitors, 25 international experts, and 500 participants in 20 competitions and daily workshops, making HORECA the ideal place to discover products and solutions that would enhance their guests’ culinary experience.
