You may not think of it as the typical tourist destination but a closer look at Antelias reveals it is indeed a beautiful town. Just north of Beirut on the coast, Antelias means facing the sun, and does so every evening when the sun sets over the sea just facing the town. It’s also a bustling residential and commercial area, with lots of shopping centers and malls, and an active nightlife street. It’s also a historic city and the site of Ksar Akil and its caves, where remains of a 30,000-year-old man were found, the region’s oldest remains of a human being. You can also find various churches in the city, cornerstones in the areas history and current culture. Chances are Antelias is just under your nose, so pass by the town and discover its hidden treasures.
