As soon as The Hangout opened its doors in the neighborhood of Gemmayze/Saifi we fell in love.
The warm and friendly restaurant is inside an old Lebanese house from the late nineteenth century boasting a beautifully restored apartment interior atmosphere. Opened in December 2012, it’s enhanced by unusual objects full of character. The bistro-style interior reminds you of your childhood or your holidays in the family country house.
The Hangout is a place where you feel comfortable and where it is good to share a family meal. Even thought it opened recently, the clientele is already composed of regulars who cannot get enough of the warm and appetizing cuisine.
A reflection of the interior, the cuisine is creative and welcoming, with genuine international cuisine based on simple and seasonal food. A rich menu of barbecue, a nice wine list, great prices (you can enjoy a starter, main course and dessert with a glass of wine and coffee for 50,000 LL!) In short, The Hangout is just the kind of restaurant we’ve been waiting for. Try it once and you’ll surely keep coming back for the Gourmet Burger, the Tartars, the Côte de Boeuf for two, the Beef Stroganoff blazed with Russian Vodka, the fried mushrooms with Halloum, the Grouper and its citrus rice, the oriental Lamb and the best pain perdu in town.
Dori Freiha, Elie Jeffy, Habib Kesserouani and Sélim Heleiwe, the owners of the restaurant, are friends who share the same passion for food and a similar marketing vision: no need to break the bank to eat well. Thus they wanted to create a cozy restaurant in a posh street in Beirut where you can enjoy delicious yet affordable dishes.
“The idea is to turn The Hangout into a meeting place where we spend time either for business purposes or chilling with friends, while enjoying the best value in the city,” said Sélim.
As good customers, Dori, Elie and Habib are early adopters of their restaurant and spend a lot of time there. As for Selim, who brings with him a successful career on the international food scene, including the prestigious Société des Bains de Mer Monaco, he is responsible for the operational side of the business and ensures the smooth running of the restaurant, while endeavoring to enrich the Hangout cellar with the finest Lebanese vintages as well as wines from around the world.
The Hangout welcomes you every day from 9am to midnight and offers you a buffet for breakfast and a daily Lebanese healthy and balanced lunch each day of the week. A rich menu and a salad bar high on vitamins are carefully designed to pamper your taste-buds at lunch and dinner alike.
For reservations call them on 01/566234 – 76/831707 or pass by – The Hangout, 187 Nahr Ibrahim Street, Saifi.
