After the lull following Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the nightlife and entertainment sector has been picking up momentum and restoring its former potential despite the ever-present turmoil and political and financial anxiety.

Connoisseur is a word we use rather liberally, but its origins are of course a title given to true wine experts. Club Grappe is a Lebanese Wine Club, and this Wednesday it is hosting a special event at Il Sorentino with Vintage Wine Cellar. Italian Cuisine will be accompanied by a selection of premium wines discovered by the Sommelier of the Club Dr Carlos Khachan. As taste buds and noses are indulged with the fine wine and good food, Italian artist, Salvador, will serenade the ears (more info)
This is another exceptionally cultural day, with two spectacular acts planned for the Al Bustan Festival. Eduard Kunz and Ilya Rashkovskiy, two of the great pianists of the century, will be performing masterpieces by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Liszt and Enescu on Thursday at 8:30 PM in the Al Bustan Hotel (more inf0). Days after Coolio’s resounding performance at Palais, Thank Got It’s Friday is back at Palais, and this week, “Between Me And You” and “Always On Time” rapper JA RULE will be in Beirut! Ja Rule is an American legend who helped this generation fall in love with rap and RnB. I believe you need no introductions or further elaboration, just book your table already (more info)
Saturday is a full-day, starting at 11:00 AM with the 2011 Ski and Fashion Festival at Faraya Mzaar. Le Refuge Terrace will host a scorching hot Diamony Lingerie Show on the snow, a much-loved annual tradition on the Mzaar slopes. So make sure you’re early on the slopes, skiing till 11:00 AM, when the fashion show will begin and last till 2:00 PM (more info)
At night, it’s the Basement’s Second Reunion. Busy touring different parts of the world, Jade will be in town to host a night in the city that made The Basement. On Saturday, Jade and Diamond Setter will be spinning at the Art Lounge. The First Reunion was amazing, with the perfect venue for the perfect occasion amidst true trip-inducing visuals (more info)
