The beginning of the end of the final weekend at the Basement was reserved for none other than the man behind it all, Jade.
An extended 6-hour set was the first of many farewell gifts for the Basement’s loyal following, who will admit that Friday January 7th was probably one of their favorite nights at the Basement (including myself, a huge Basement fanatic)
Songs from the albums, productions, remixes, bands and performers which we have enjoyed for the past 6 years, were wittily mashed up, taking us back in time, then back again with reassurances that this “will not be the end” for the Basement’s movement.
To many, Friday was the last night they’d spend at the Basement, and they made sure it counted. The Basement was packed above normal capacity, with well over 350 clubbers stomping the night away.
The Basement will be sorely missed, and the lead up to its closure was a remarkable one. We await the new project the guys behind the Basement have promised us, but till then, make sure you check out the special Basement-dedicated Weekly Leaks next Wednesday.
