A small old house tucked in one of Ahsrafieh’s hidden streets holds a treasure. For those of us who love food and good entertainment, it’s definitely a treasure discovered. Walk up a small staircase and into a home. Literally a home with a living area, and three separate rooms all turned into a lounge/restaurant. Hence it’s name: Roomers. Each room comes in a nostalgic theme of the high and old… each with a special experience to give. An old traditional Lebanese house itself in its original form, yet decorated in the finest details.
You walk in a faint lit high ceiling lounge/restaurant and your attention is drawn to those details mentioned. The arch doorway, the unique lamps on the walls, the dandling light bolbs from the ceiling, the well chosen wall papers in each room, the old windows, the sofas, to name a few. The whole set up is created to make the guests feel at home, a place that you can come as you are and feel comfortable, while enjoying a meal at the bar, at a table, whatever you want.
Although the place has an old feel to it, modern fun grabs your attention. Start off with a drink prepared by the lounge’s talented bartender. A sip of the his delicious cocktails puts us in the mood for Roomers entertainment program, which include great music played by their house DJ, a one woman show who sings all the fun songs we all know and can sing along to and a solo guitarist who plays old and new oriental beats on his air guitar… putting us in the mood to dance and move our hips.
Although the owners aim at making Roomers a place to come and relax, their menu is anything but casual. All is made in house with the freshest ingredients. We recommend the whole menu, but as a favourite try for starters with yummy mozzarella and tomatoes salad that comes melted on crisp ‘mille-feuilles’, and the cooked shrimps covered in what we know as the ‘osmalieh’ crumbs and add to this the meat skewers that comes with a special in-house sauce .
For main course, try their steak that comes on a wooden board with vegetables and mashed potatoes or their chicken with risotto and mushroom sauce. Just mentioning some of their many specialties again makes your mouth water.
For dessert, try their special cheese cakes and ‘Mars’ pudding that individually comes in a small glass. Enough to satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling too guilty.
Very stylish place! The restaurant offers a large variety of food, delicious and every bite is enjoyed. After that’s done, just hope that you’re wearing your dancing shoes on. The night has just started.
