In an extension of the successful partnership between Coca-Cola and the Regional Egyptian Food Banks which offered meals during Ramadan, the partners have embarked on an extended initiative to continue sharing joy through meals and beverages that are distributed to underprivileged families.
Within the partnership with the Lebanese Food Bank Chaired by Mr. Kamal Sinno and the Jordanian Food bank Chaired by Eng. Kawther Qattarneh, Coca-Cola Middle East confirmed plans to be the 1st to join the Sustainable Feeding Program “Village Free From Hunger” sponsoring the distribution of Dry Food Boxes during the upcoming months to underprivileged villages across Jordan specifically in Rweam Tafelah Governorate, Abu Elalaq in Maan Governorate, Om Elamad in Balqa Governorate, and Mandah in Irbid Governorate.
The continuation of the project is a result of the successful partnership that saw the distribution of meals to the needy during the holy month of Ramadan, where the Minister of Social Affairs in Lebanon Mr. Wael Abou Faour had encouraged the initiative saying, “what concerns me of this initiative is the will of doing good towards the community, which is met in the two institutions: The Regional Egyptian Food Bank (representing the Lebanese, Jordanian and Iraqi Food Banks) and The Coca-Cola Company. Filling the needs of the underprivileged is an act of respect of their dignity.”
“This year’s Ramadan feeding program is the first initiative of its kind in the region to support needy families during the holy month of Ramadan. With the success of that partnership, we have launched also the Village Free from Hunger program that will continue to feed those below poverty level. Coca-Cola Middle East is the first multinational organization to support the program in both Lebanon and Jordan as a continuation of the successful Ramadan program launched with their support earlier this year.” said Dr. Moez El Shohdi, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Egyptian Food Bank.
The Coca-Cola Company and its bottling partners will be providing cases of beverages in kind to accompany the food boxes, for families to remain hydrated and refreshed throughout the upcoming months.
Mr. Antoine Tayyar, Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Coca-Cola Middle East, stated: “The Coca-Cola Company continues to honor its pledge to help the communities where we are present. We are glad to cooperate with the Food Bank again in Lebanon and Jordan and are pleased that our first cooperation took place during the holy month of Ramadan and has led to our partnership in this program as well, a program that aims to share meals and beverages with families and friends despite all circumstances and across all borders.”
The Coca-Cola Company plans to be at the forefront in creating and highlighting its strong commitment towards the community. In this region, the spirit of giving back to the community has been fundamental and The Coca-Cola Company has successfully implemented numerous initiatives that aim to build better, stronger and more sustainable communities in all the countries in which it operates.
