The Audemars Piguet Millenary 4101

Audemars Piguet Millenary 4101 is a perfect timepiece for the passionate lovers of high-end movements. It provides open views on its amazing inner-work, from both sides of the case. Featuring the same oval case as previous watches from the Millenary Collection, as well as the signature off-centered dial with stunning Roman numerals, the Millenary 4101 is distinctive by a completely new mechanism and some innovative design codes, which makes this masterpiece highly valuable.

Audemars Piguet has done the fantastic job with the Calibre 4101, a self-winding mechanism which is specially constructed for this model. This is a true highlight of the watch and it even looks that the visual perfection of the movement overshadows its technical sophistication. However, this is not true, since its constructors treated inside and outside parts of the mechanism with equal importance.

Each of 253 components of the mechanism that stands out in five levels contributes to the aesthetic beauty of the timepiece, showing stunning quality of execution and finishing. The mechanism comprises 12 bridges which are snailed, circular-grained and adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif. Each of them is accentuated with unique design elements. The mainplate also comes with horizontal Côtes de Genève at the front, while it is circular grained at the back, in two different diameters that enhance a three-dimensional effect. The mainplate and bridges are rhodiumed and gilded for a pink gold version, while they had the anthracite galvanic treatment for a stainless steel version.

In the heart of the Calibre 4101, there is a variable-inertia balance with eight white gold inertia blocks that oscillates at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), providing an amazing long-term stability. Finally, a bidirectional winding, 22 karat gold oscillating weight, mounted on ceramic ball bearings is nicely visible through the sapphire crystal case-back. Completely assembled and decorated by hand, the Calibre 4101 provides a great power-reserve of 60 hours.

The inspiration for the unique form of Millenary watches came from the Coliseum in Rome. It is a pure, simple oval and it is 47 mm wide and 42 mm tall. The Millenary 4101 comes in two variations: one instainless steel and the other one in 18 karat pink gold.

The pink gold version features a silver-toned, anthracite dial with pink gold applied Roman numerals and hands. It is available with a hand-sewn brown crocodile strap with large square scales and an AP folding clasp in 18 karat pink gold. The stainless steel version has a black anthracite dial that matches a black crocodile strap with a stainless steel folding clasp.
