Alcazar: A Fortress on a Stairway

In the hip and buzzing Gemmayze stands Alcazar, a stylish cocktail bar and kitchen with a unique approach to dining. The modern lounge experience is found inside one of Lebanon’s oldest buildings. The fortress, as its name suggests is steeped in history. Located on St. Nicholas Stairs, the stand alone three-story remains faithful to Lebanon’s heritage, situated amongst a meeting point for a well known cultural and artistic hub.
Alcazar is beautifully decorated with a comfortable interior keeping the whole place feeling cozy, spacious and enjoyable yet inspiring its old homey spirit intact. The high ceiling of its old layout is kept yet adding a modern touch of large chandeliers hanging down. As you walk in, you’re welcome by a modern fresh bar, high tables and chairs and entertaining music. Upstairs is the lounge, where every table is differently set, giving it a laid back homey feel. The colors are sober; lighting is romantic yet not gloomy, windows are large with greenery… with a separate bar on that floor. Although simple, every where you look you will see something you will surely admire. Alcazar also boats a terrace as well as a garden set up.
The menu at Alcazar blends special techniques and ingredients with the best of Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. The renowned Chef, Anthony Soussa Tam along with executive chef Georges Khoury, have come up with a varied menu, consisting of exquisite and unique dishes. The menu draws the concept somehow fusion cuisine together with style and rich taste; including a large variety of exquisite appetizers and main courses. Start with the Marble Beef, where beef fillet comes with sizzling hot oil and garlic crisp and truffle vinaigrette, or try the Wasabi Trio Tartar that includes Tuna, Salmon and White fish tartar with light wasabi and apple julienne, or the deliciously tasty crispy prawns that are lightly battered served with mango and creamy spicy sauce. This is just to name a few of the many platters that will leave you wanting more.

If you’re not a fan of sea food, per say, try Alcazar’s trio selection of classic, Brie and mushrooms mini burgers that comes with classic French fries.

Desserts are just too good to refuse with mouth watering delights including their one of kind chocolate fondue, chocolate mousse with red wine and marinated strawberries, and the vanilla crème brulee with strawberry and lemongrass soup, to name a few sumptuous dishes.

Alcazar is a place to enjoy great food in a memorable setting. Come and enjoy the ambiance with friends, family and even business acquaintances – everyone will leave impressed, and of course with a full stomach.
