The name Black Eyed Peas has long been synonymous with fun, dance, and partying. Their new album The Beginning is nothing less than creative bouncy tunes combined with smart lyrics – pure entertainment! The first single off the album is “The Time (Dirty Bit)”, which was an attempt at bringing their own version of the Dirty Dancing soundtrack “(I’ve Had) The time of My Life” to the dance floor, and at that they surely succeeded. Their first single is actually the least cool one on the album. The second single “Just Can’t Get Enough” is actually one of my favorites and a very strange track altogether. Fergie conveys a softer yet more emotional side to her vocals while Will.i.am works his magic in delivering a digitized beat, probably sounding a bit too much like a computer game at some instances but nevertheless a great track.
The Beginning continues with the BEP’s infamous electronic flavor which made many of their singles hits in so many countries. All songs are catchy with pop melodies, smooth hip-hop beats, and fun lyrics. The only down-side to this album is that none of the songs reach the euphoric levels of The E.N.D.’s “I Gotta Feeling” or “Boom Boom Pow”, and although the BEP’s didn’t go out of their way on this one, it’s still a great album worth buying.
