Recently in tragic news talented singer and performer Amy Winehouse passed away. Family and friends who remember Amy in the most positive light put together a charitable foundation in her name. This past Wednesday the Amy Winehouse Foundation (AWF) was introduced on the same day Amy would have celebrated her 28th birthday. The foundation launched along side the release of her final recording, a duet with the legendary Tony Bennett, entitled “Body and Soul”.
The Amy Winehouse Foundation has been put together to assist young people with problems including ill health, disability, addiction and more. Her father who loved Amy so dearly said, “Amy was very generous and we kept coming back to the thought of how much she loved children” (quoted from Yahoonews.com). Proceeds from sales of the “Body and Soul” track will act as a major donation to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
Although it is true that Amy for a long time struggled with an alcohol and drug addiction, the lovely girl was able to spend the last few months of her life completely sober. It is best to remember Amy in a positive way; this foundation will help do just that.
