Yummie by Heather Thomson has introduced a new collection, Pretty Powerful, that the company says it constructs with a Lycra “state-of-the-art shaping fabric” that is “designed to improve the effectiveness of shapewear while delivering sculpting, smoothing, comfort and style.” There are four styles in the collection (joining many others the company offers) which retail from $42 to $88. The black and nude designs are offered in sizes XS to XL and “will be sold at major department stores, specialty stores and are already selling at www.YummieLife.com.
“Our focus is on an elegant, lean line where soft structure and movement matter,” explained designer and CCO Thomson. “Revolutionary advancements in fabric technology allow us to reach a synergy between respect for past traditions in shapewear coupled with high fashion for beautiful results.” She claims the collection represents “the ultimate in innovative materials and modern design.” Since the launch of the brand in 2008, the designer has continued to modify and expand her offerings to now even include denim and ready to wear lines. She has obtained a number of patents and in 2011 the company that owns the brand won a $6.75 million settlement from Maidenform ending a patent infringement and invalidity legal battle between the two companies. Today, Yummie boasts “distribution agreements in the United States, Philippines, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Australia and Austria as well as extensive sales in the Benelux and more than 20 other countries.”
The “Serafina Tank,” one of the Pretty Powerful designs, “gives you effective slimming and shaping through your middle, but with total comfort and an elegant scalloped trim and mesh overlay at the top.” The company says it “Fits up to a size DD comfortably.” The machine washable design is made of “76% Tactel Nylon and 24% Tactel Lycra Elastane with “mesh insets that are 83% Nylon and 17% Lycra Elastane. The style comes in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL and is retailing on the company’s web site for $68.
Yummie boast its “Fabiola Bodysuit,” will give customers “effective slimming and shaping, but with total comfort.” The style will fit “up to a size D comfortably” and comes with a snap crotch (with cotton lining) and thong back and is machine washable. Fabric and size options are the same as with the tank. Retail price on the company web site is $78.
The “Lavina Bustless Slip” is designed to give customers “effective shaping from bra bulge through hips, tush, and thighs, but with total comfort and an elegant scallop and mesh trim down the sides,” while allowing the wearer to use her existing bra. The company says the style “fits up to a size DD comfortably” and hits mid thigh and comes with 1” adjustable straps with j-hook. Fabric and sizes are the same as above. The slip sells on the company’s web site for $88.
The final member of the new Pretty Powerful collection is the “Alona Thong” which the company says gives customers “effective tummy slimming and shaping.” The $42 thong with cotton crotch lining comes in the same sizes and fabrics as above.
