Model Candice Swanepoel had the honour of opening the 18th Victoria’s Secret fashion parade in New York on Wednesday wearing a $10 million bra that was cleverly dubbed the “Crown Jewels.”
Designed by jeweller Mouawad the garment’s enormous price tag comes from its materials and craftsmanship. The bra is adorned with 4,200 precious gems including rubies, diamonds and yellow sapphires that were hand-set in an 18-carat gold setting. A 52-carat pear-shaped ruby hangs from the middle of the bra, which comes with a matching belt … and two bodyguards.
Swanepoel (a 23-year-old South African model who has appeared in the show six times and was number 9 on this year on Forbes’ list of the world’s top-earning models), was joined on the catwalk by fellow ‘Angels’ Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes.
