Story Behind Rabih Kayrouz’s New Store in Port Beirut

Maison Rabih Kayrouz’s first boutique opens in the new upcoming trendy district of Port Beirut! Spotted by Rabih Kayrouz two years ago, the area of Port Beirut ignited in the designer the flair for a new Beiruty destination. Rabih soon after contacted Karen Chekerdjian (furniture and product designer) and Johnny Farah (leather goods designer also owner of IF boutique) to share his vision of opening their respective boutiques in that area.

The three designers recently inaugurated their boutiques with a big ‘party on the left side of the street’.

This event marked one of many future plans lying ahead for the new Port district.

The MRK boutique once again reflects Rabih Kayrouz’s raw and multifunctional vision of spaces.

To create his space, Rabih chose to collaborate with Karen Chekerdjian, furniture and product designer and not with an architect, with the main purpose of treating it as an “object/product” and leaving its basic architecture intact.

The result is a gigantic playful ‘lady’s wardrobe’.

The boutique will showcase MRK’s collections, the Ashrafieh atelier (81, rue de Liban) will continue to serve as a bridal and bespoke gowns ‘Maison de Couture’ where private appointments are held. The MRK boutique is open 6 days a week Monday to Saturday, with an exceptional pre-Christmas opening on Sunday Dec. 19th.
