Four in Hand Knot:

The Four in Hand is tying method is the most popular one, because it is simplest. It looks elegant & and “cool” together and it will be great for almost every event.  The Four In Hand is a little bit asymmetric, and forms a relatively small knot. Therefore, this tying method will be great for a narrow collar opening. It isn’t usually the best choice with a wide collar shirts. The Four in Hand, due to it’s simplicity, leave a relatively long in length tie.

Step 1  Place the tie on your neck so the wide end of the tie will be on the left and the narrow end at the right. Place the tie so the wide end will be longer than the narrow end (about 10 inches longer).

Step 2  Bring the wide end of the tie across the narrow end, above it, to the right.

Step3  Bring the wide end of the tie across the narrow end again, underneath it, to the left.

Step 4  Turn the wide end of the tie to the right, across the narrow end, above it.

Step 5  Pass the wide end below the part of the tie around your neck, upwards.

Step 6  Pass the wide end of the tie down, inside the loop which created the last step. Finally, tighten the tie around your neck.

The Pratt Knot:

It is also known as the Shelby Knot, is a neat & tidy tying method. The Pratt Knot differs than most of the tying methods with its initial position, which is upside down. The Pratt Knot characterized with a symmetric and a low-medium thick knot. It is great for thicker ties than those can used by the Windsor and Half Windsor knots. The Pratt Knot is a great alternative to the Windsor Knot.

Step 1  Place the tie on your neck, with the upside down (Opposite than usual). Place the wide end of the tie to the left and the narrow end to the right. Place the tie so the wide end will be longer than the narrow end (about 10 inches longer).

Step 2  Bring the wide end of the tie across the narrow end, below it, to the right.

Step 3  Loop the wide end of the tie around the neck loop. First pass the wide end upwards, above the tie around your neck, and then pull it back down, below it.

Step 4 Turn the wide end of the tie to the left, across the narrow end, above it.

Step 5  Pass the wide end of the tie below the neck loop, upwards.

Step 6  Pass the wide end of the tie down, inside the loop which created the last step. Finally, tighten the tie around your neck.

The Winstor Knot:

The Windsor Knot is a thick, wide and triangular tie knot that projects confidence. It would be your knot of for presentations, job interviews, courtroom appearances etc. It is best suited for spread collar shirts and it’s actually quite easy to do.While just about everyone can use this tie knot to tie his tie, it looks especially well on men with longer necks as its wide form shortens the perceived height of the neck a little bit. To tie the Windsor Knot, select a necktie of your choice and stand in front of a mirror. Then simply follow the steps below:

Step 1  Start with the wide end (“W”) of your necktie on the right, extending about 12 inches below the narrow end (“N”) on the left.

Step  2 Then cross the wide end over the narrow end.

Step 3  Bring the wide end up through the loop between the collar and your tie.

Step 4  Then bring the wide end back down.

Step 5   Pull the wide end underneath the narrow end and to the right, back through the loop and to the right again so that the wide end is inside out.

Step 6  Bring the wide end across the front from right to left.

Step 7 Then pull the wide end up through the loop again.

Step 8 Bring the wide end down through the knot in front.

Step 9 And — using both hands — tighten the knot carefully and draw it up to the collar.

Congratulations, you did it!l. Simply keep practicing the Windsor Knot a few more times until you can tie this necktie knot within less than two minutes.

Bow Tie Knot:

The Bow Tie Knot is used to tie a bow tie and is worn to give you a formal and elegant appearance. A “black tie occasion” such as a wedding is an event that you would commonly wear a bow tie at, along with a tuxedo.

The proper size should never be broader than the widest part of your neck and should never extend past the tips of the shirt collar.

To tie the Bow Tie Knot, select a bow tie of your choice and stand in front of a mirror. Then simply follow the steps below:

Step 1 Place the bow tie around your neck, situating it so that end “A” is about two inches longer than end “B”.

Step 2 Cross end “A” over end “B”.

Step 3 Bring end “A” up and under the loop.

Step 4 Now double end “B” over itself to form the front base loop of the bow tie.

Step 5  Loop end “A” over the center of the loop you just formed.

Step 6 Holding everything in place, double end “A” back on itself and poke it through the loop behind the bow tie.

Step 7 Adjust the bow tie by tugging at the ends of it and straightening the center knot.

And that is how it is done! Simply keep practicing the Bow Tie Knot a few more times now to let your new knowledge sink in.
