Chanel’s Lego handbag is a favourite among celebs

The glam ladies of showbiz land may be shocked to learn that the plastic item which has a £5k price tag only costs £400 to make

Here’s a plastic bag you wouldn’t want to shove your weekly shop in… Chanel’s latest offering, which looks like Lego, costs £5,370.

This season’s super-cool IT bag, designed by Karl Lagerfeld, is already a favourite with celebs, despite also resembling a school lunch box.

It comes in green, yellow, pink, blue, black and monochrome, and has the classic Chanel double-C logo plastered across the front.

Singer Rita Ora does not seem to go anywhere without her red version and mum and daughter Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have both bagged themselves the tiny clutch.

But while the stars are happy to shell out for the bag, thought to be made in Paris, Lego expert Duncan Titmarsh says it would only cost about £400 to make.

Obviously, Lego is delighted. Its PR boss Emma Owen says: “This new clutch design is flattery in its sincerest form.”
