The Grill Room: A Thrill For Your Tastebuds

The luxurious Four Seasons hotel opened its doors in Lebanon little over a year ago, bringing with it the deluxe and lavish treatment, service and standards that only the Four Seasons brand can deliver. One of its prestigious amenities is its restaurant, The Grill Room, specializing in all the best of what the grill has to offer.

Not only was I stunned by the magnificent structure of the hotel versus how it remained so discreet, I was even more astonished at its fabulous restaurant that I was completely oblivious of until very recently. Beginning with its décor, it is simple and luxurious at the same time; and that is a very difficult combination to achieve. With a high ceiling, wood covered walls, wall to wall carpeting, a comfortable and refined seating area, and fresh, calm ambiance, The Grill Room clearly has an aura of opulence to it. The venue itself seats 66 people with an additional eight in the private room, which is perfect for business meetings as it combines slick taste and professionalism.

At first, anyone may feel intimidated or reluctant about dining at a hotel restaurant, but the experience here is well worth it. The food is simply sublime. Starting with the complimentary bread, you can enjoy its warmth and freshness as you please your vision with its presentation. Begin with ordering a nice bottle of red wine, I highly recommend the Paul Jaboulet Aine Cotes Du Rhone Parallele 45 which is delicious and will complement your meal perfectly. For your entrée, order the Foie Gras Torchon that is definitely one of the tastiest foie gras I’ve tried to date. It is so rich and fresh, and the portion is immensely generous (tip: ask for more of the delicious bread that comes with it). Once you’re done with this fulfilling entrée, make sure to order the US Prime Beef Burger with sautéed foie gras. I was overwhelmed by the taste of this burger; its juicy, generous patty and its constituents that when combined result in the perfect burger. I assure all burger lovers out there that you will not be disappointed, and this could very well be the reason for your return visit. There are a variety of side orders that you can select from; my personal favorites were the grilled asparagus and sautéed mushrooms. For a delicious dessert, indulge in the fresh, invigorating, delectable profiteroles. The pastry is deliciously crunchy; as passionate pastry chef Charles Azar explains, it is prepared with milk and pate sable to maintain its crunchiness. The ice cream is rich, cooling and creamy.

All in all, the food presentation deserves a “hats down”, the portions are generous, and the staff is superbly trained, friendly and competent.

The venue is more directed towards a mature crowd. I highly recommend The Grill Room as a lunch destination for those working in the Beirut area who enjoy the finer things in life. It is also a lovely place for an intimate dinner with a couple of friends or a special someone, where you can enjoy a calm evening while treating your taste buds to a fabulous meal.

During weekends, enjoy a drink and a cigar at the bar which stays open till 2 am. The kitchen closes from 4 to 7 pm, and the restaurant begins serving dinner at 8 pm.

This charming venue opens its terrace during the summer season, providing a lovely, refreshing view of the Beirut Marina to its high-end customers. This is also good news for smokers, as smoking is completely prohibited indoors, except for the private room.

Dress code is smart casual, business casual, or semi-formal.

Price per person including drinks is approximately 100 USD.
