Goutons Voir is truly a treat for everyone that’s tried it. For those of you who have yet to fall in love with this place, it’s a little restaurant that’s opened its doors on the Abdel Wahab el Englizi Street and has managed to stand out with its deliciously simple concept.
It serves an array of European dishes to gourmet lovers who appreciate great food while keeping it unpretentious. The décor comes across as effortless; eye-catching purple cushions complement the standard wooden chairs and tables with very minimalistic wild flower arrangements on each table top. Something about the setting is reminiscent of school days or afternoons spent in your grandmother’s kitchen. During lunch time, light floods the venue from every corner of its glass walls, filling up the place with positivity and freshness. The simplicity of the restaurant is addictive. Whether it’s the way the daily platters are written on the chalkboard or the way the wine bottles are displayed above the inviting bar.
One would think that good food must come hand in hand with an extravagant venue, but after trying Goutons Voir you’ll realize that is one big misconception. The food is absolutely scrumptious. Regardless of what you order, you’ll love it. Whether it’s the starters, the beef, the pasta or the desserts, you’ll enjoy a comfortable and delightful meal and anticipate the next time you’ll be back.
The menu is very simple and straight to the point. Aside to the items on the menu, there are daily dishes that are written on the chalkboard – regardless of what you order, you’ll be enjoying a delicious meal. I personally loved the tarte de chevre chaud as a starter, and it’s possibly one of the most delicious goat cheese salads I’ve ever tried. It’s rich and light at the same time. The combination of warm cheese, fresh tomatoes and crispy pastry on a bed of rocket leaves is simply heavenly! For the main dish, I tried – and loved – the mushroom, foie gras and truffle risotto. It was delicious! Combining three of my favorite ingredients together, it served just the right balance of foie gras versus the truffle oil and mushroom pieces. It was a thrill for my tastebuds. The côte de boeuf for two is succulent and mouthwatering – from the meat itself, to the way it was grilled and served. Ending the meal with the fantastic chocolate and strawberry dessert was a treat! A generous portion of delectable warm, melted chocolate topped with strawberries certainly fulfilled my heart’s desire!
The staff is tremendously attentive and friendly, making this venue your home away from home.
The place is just perfect for any group of people within any age group. Whether you’re a young adult taking your loved one on a date or a group of older people looking for a cozy place to dine with family members, you’ll enjoy Goutons Voir to the very last bite.
