Areej: A Refreshing & Delicious Lebanese Restaurant

We can all agree that Lebanese cuisine is a culinary sensation that both Lebanese people and foreigners find delicious. The only downside to Lebanese dining is gathering up a group of twenty people to spend a good few hours savoring dish after dish. As of recent years, and following the success of Laila, Lebanese restauranteurs and chefs have come up with a more casual and trendy concept to Lebanese dining where you can enjoy the mezze, grilled meat, and sweets that you love so much, but with a modern twist in  presentation, taste, and concept. One of these places is Areej.

Approximately a year ago, the owners of Lina’s opened a small restaurant in the Kaslik district called Areej. All in all, the place seats approximately 150 people. Its outdoor seating area is very fresh and relaxing. Tables have enough space from one another to create enough room and comfort for customers. What I mostly liked about the set up is how it allows the breeze to pass through, making the venue a perfect place for a relaxed afternoon lunch with friends or family. The indoor area is a cozier setting where the tables are closer together in a tighter space. Old and new elements of decor come together to complement the restaurant’s concept of traditional food with a modern twist.

The food is delicious – there’s no arguing there. My personal favorites were the creamy and rich Hommos, the mouthwatering boiled Potato in a Special Dip made of lemon and “debs el remmen”, the fresh and savoring Armenian Mante with meat-stuffed pastry and yogurt dip, the delicious Bulgur Bi Dfin, the Tabouleh that’s made with the freshest tomatoes and just the right amount of Bulgur, olive oil, and lemon, and the addictive Spicy Potato that is in my opinion one of the best in the country. Although I usually order grilled beef or chicken at this point, at Areej I always make an exception because their Kafta and Kebab are as juicy and appetizing as can be.The meat and chicken are also very tasty, although some may find them a bit dry. Make no mistake, the delectable Mloukieh is the star dessert on the menu. Try it and let me know what you think.

There was no delay in service and the staff was extremely friendly. The portions were great.and the menu had a very wide selection of platters. The food was very clean and very fresh.
