For film lovers, celebrities and industry professionals it is the happiest time of year. The Festival De Cannes is here! The International Film Festival was created on the initiative of Jean Zay, Minister for Education and Fine Arts. In the 1950’s, the festival became more popular thanks to the attendance of celebrities such as Kirk Douglas, Sophia Loren, Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot, Cary Grant, Romy Schneider, Alain Delon, Simone Signoret and Gina Lollobrigida. Today the Festival De Cannes is over 60 years old and is stronger than ever.
Ever since its inception, the Festival de Cannes has remained faithful to its founding purpose which is: to draw attention to and raise the profile of films with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level. This year 2012 we see the following list as the Official Selection of The Cannes Festival (or Festival De Cannes.)
