The organizing committee of the “Beirut International Film Festival” announced that the 10th edition of the festival is set for 6-13 October.
The festival’s director, Colette Naufal, declared during a press conference in Albergo Hotel that 61 international and Middle Eastern films will participate in the festival including nine films in the Middle Eastern Feature Film Competition, fifteen in the Middle Eastern Short Film Competition, six Short Films Out of Competition in addition to seventeen films in the International Panorama section, ten films in the Documentary section and four in the Culinary section.
Naufal added that the festival will OPEN with SOMEWHERE by Sofia Coppola, the Golden Lion winner Venice 2010, in UNESCO Palace.
The festival will close with”I AM LOVE” (Io sono l’Amore) by the Italian film director Luca Guadagnino,
Naufal stressed: “2010 has been a year of discovery…The result of this, is a selection of numerous films by young and new directors, the trends of the future”.
She added “In our 14 year history, we have never had so many films by new and young filmmakers, from so many different countries, and some countries, are for the first time present in our festival.”
