“In music the passions enjoy themselves.” – Friedrich Nietzsche

The Lebanese are renowned for their many talents, and music is definitely one of them. With so many outstanding DJs in the country, we thought we’d shine a spotlight to highlight some of the best talents in the field by launching the DJs of Lebanon. It’s a way to thank them for providing the soundtrack to some of the best nights of our lives and keep the beats going and going and going.

Below is our chat with Ziad Ghosn, the long-time resident DJ at B018, who gives Friday night clubbers the night of their lives every week!

1-Who and what are the inspirations for your music?

My main influence is everything related to progressive music, whether Rock, House, Psychedelic and Classical, where you have a bunch of many instruments syncing all together.

2- How would you define your genre of music?

Till now I still don’t have the exact words to define it! But if I had to, it’s deep, groovy, and twisted, with lots of emotions and feeling.

3-Where can we listen to you play?

You can listen to me at B018 every Friday  night and online, streaming on soundcloud or beattunes.com.

4-Do you have any albums? Or are you working on one?

I do have a lot of open projects, but most of them are unfinished. To be honest I don’t have enough studio time with two jobs.

5-Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself still playing at B018. It would be really hard for me to quit as long as I’m still in Lebanon, it’s my second home. And also in 5 years I will definitely have many releases, that’s a promise.

6- What was your favorite event or show you ever played and why?

To be honest, every Friday after playing at B018 I leave the club saying it was one of my favorite sets because of the experience is always growing night after night. It becomes easier to understanding the crowd more, and when you have a satisfied crowd, you have your favorite event/ show.

7-What’s the most difficult part about being a DJ?

The non-stop looking for new tunes. You reach a point where you can’t accept any music and you become very picky, so you keep searching and listening to more music most of the time. It’s not always that hard though!

8-What’s the best part of being a DJ?

The happy crowd, it’s an amazing feeling when I see everyone enjoying and going crazy on my set.

9-Do you have some hobbies? Can you tell us more about those?

Sure I do, soccer. I’ve been in the 1st division in the Lebanese Futsal Championship. I also enjoy Video games when I get tired of listening to music. I used to have many more hobbies but unfortunately, I’m out of time now.

10-Where can we follow your news and updates? Do you have a fanpage?

Facebook fan page: https://www.facebook.com/ziad.ghosn

Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/ziad-ghosn

Beattunes: http://www.ziadghosn.beattunes.info/

11-What’s your favorite tune on your iPod right now?

Blackfield – Welcome to My DNA (album)

12-How would you describe Lebanon in one sentence?

I used to describe it as one of the most amazing countries, but honestly not anymore due to politics (Sorry if I seem pessimistic about that)!

13-Is there anything else you’d like to add?

A big thank you for all B018 Management and the owners for giving me that opportunity 7-8 years ago, a big thank you to the fans, and of course a big thank you to Beirutnightlife.com for the non-stop support since day one.
