The Swiss Embassy is pleased to invite you to the Vernissage of Outside Perspectives at Café de Prague, Hamra Monday, April 12 at 5pm to 8pm.
With Outside Perspectives, Thomas Gutersohn offers an exterior view of daily life in Lebanon. The view of a voyager. In the cities of Beirut, Tripoli, Saida and Sour he picks splits of a second in peoples lives and preserves them on his photos. He shows ordinary situations with which the spectator can identify and enter into a dialogue. The Leica III (1933) he uses gives his photos an ancient character, coherent to black and white photography.
Thomas Gutersohn is a freelance journalist, living in Geneva and Bern.
He has traveled through China and Tibet and made reportages in India, Mongolia and Japan. Outside Perspectives is his first project in the Middle East. Therefore he presents his work to the people living here and exchanges his point of view with the perspective of insiders.
This exhibition is funded by the Swiss Embassy in Lebanon.
