Exhibition “The Best of Doisneau”

Espace Kettaneh-Kunigk Clemenceau has the pleasure to present, on Tuesday November 9th 2010, an exhibition of photography “The Best of Doisneau” picturing TWO GREAT MOMENTS of this post-war artist (1912-1994) who was, along with Cartier Bresson and Willy Ronis, one of the main pillars of the Humanist French School of Photography.

TEN VERY ARTICULATE BLACK AND WHITE PICTURES proposed by this poet/photographer widely known for a serie…s of anecdotal, narrative pictures in which he used models to recreate a situation observed earlier, like his famous “Baiser de l’Hôtel de Ville” and similar works mainly produced “sur le vif”, plucked by chance from the stream of everyday life.

ELEVEN OTHER COLORED PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPHIES focusing on the sixties of Palm Springs; Doisneau arrived to Palm Springs on November 21st, on assignment for Fortune magazine. He chose for the first time to work exclusively in color, but looking at Palm Springs 1960, we notice that the parisian photographer was not constrained by his assignment of covering greens of golf. Hence, intrigued by parties, cocktails and luxurious Cadillac, he produced an important social and nevertheless sarcastic document on the elder jetsetters of a Posh Palm Springs!
