With our TVs constantly tuned into talent competitions, we’re excited to see a live competition for our local talent. The American University of Beirut has gotten into the habit of looking for creative geniuses in its midst, holding the annual JCI-AUB event “AUB’s Got Talent” on Tuesday February 26th at the Issam Fares Hall on campus.
Students, parents and audience members filled the hall to cheer for the 13 highly-talented contestants that sang, danced, acted, played instruments, and beatboxed. This year’s star-studded judging pannel included Nadine Labaki, Aline Lahoud, George Khabbaz and Nemr Abou Nassar. The audience and judges were amazed by the performances, with many receiving standing ovations, not to mention cheering and clapping that filled the hall with excitement.
After much debate and deliberation the judges decided they could not choose the top four candidates, and instead made a last-minute adjustment and chose six finalists. After the audience’s vote and the judges’ grading, the total grade was counted and the generous sponsors (iStyle, BankMed, Roadsters Diner, Beirut Circle) presented gifts for the top winners: 1st place- Michel Nassar (singer), 2nd place- Joe Bakerji (pianist), 3rd place – Jennifer Battikha (Dancer). Congratulations to AUB’s talented bunch!
