hamra street beirut 05 Hamra

Hamra enjoys a central location adjacent to Beirut’s downtown, bordering the American University of Beirut campus to the North. A shopping and business hub by day, the district opens its doors at night with a wide variety of bars, clubs, restaurants and cafes. While not as crowded as the more compact  – and arguably more limited – neighborhoods of Gemaze and Monet, Hamra still attracts large crouds at any hour of day or night. In the 1960s and 1970s the district was known as the intellectual and cultural hub of Beirut, and with businesses booming, it may well be on track to regain that status once again.
