Undoubtedly the rapper behind the industry’s most beloved classics, creator of “Gangsta’s Paradise” and “Fantastic Voyage” flew into Beirut and landed at Palais, kicking off what’s set to be Beirut’s biggest Friday night concept, ever.

Thank God It’s Friday is Palais by Crytal’s new Friday night series, which is planned to feature international celebrities from the music industry. What better way to kick off the series with none other than Coolio, whose Dangerous Minds track, Gangsta’s Paradise, is one of rap’s most successful singles, staying number 1 for 3 straight weeks on the Billboard Top 100, and #1 track of 1995, getting to the top of the charts in countries all over the world.
Palais was fully-packed, with well over 800 clubbers eager to see a piece of music history, up close and personal. Coolio performed his biggest hits, as each and every single clubber sang along, swaying and absorbing the emotional lyrics and tune of the soulful rap that characterized the 1990s.
Fantastic Voyage, 1 2 3 4, I’ll C U When U Get There and of course Gangsta’s Paradise were only part of the performance, with many more brilliant tracks rapped live by Coolio himself, and even more tracks performed by his crew.
As always, the sharp Lethal Skillz was on the decks, providing the jam to Coolio’s words and ushering in the night before drawing it to a close several hours later with his smooth collection of vital rap and rnb vinyls.
TGIF’s first installment was massive and Coolio’s captivating performance was an unforgettable trip down nostalgia lane to the good old days, which Palais hopes to bring back to Beirut every Friday throughout February!
