The spectacular Beirut Holidays events were coming to a close, ending with the incredibly talented British singer-songwriter, composer, producer and accomplished musician, Sami Yusuf. Sami’s groundbreaking debut album, Al-Muallim sold over 3 million copies and his second album selling well over 4 million, which earned him a massive following in the Middle East, North African nations and South-East Asia and more. Now he has made his way over to Beirut to perform for his many fans from all over Lebanon.
Sami Yusuf became the first and the youngest Muslim recipient of the honorary Doctor of Letters award in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to music by the University of Roehampton in south-west London. His performances are trim and tightly focused, complete with singing in English, Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Urdu, Azeri and Malay and performance on a multitude of both classical and ethnic instruments. Sami performed his greatest songs for a packed house at Beirut Souks, with a Lebanese flag scarf around his neck showing love to our beautiful country.
