La Bodeguita del Medio in Cuba is one of the world’s most famous restaurants. It is the birthplace of the Mojito and welcomed people like Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Neruda.
La Bodeguita has decided to open in one of Beirut’s most posh streets, and has fit in perfectly, with the Cuban gourmet restaurant and bar attracting both the South American Lebanese expats as well as locals fond of Salsa and Meringue.
On Thursday November 11, La Bodeguita was packed with Lebanese people who grew up in Panama, Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia and many other Latin countries. You didn’t have to speak Spanish though to appreciate the exquisite music as the venue welcomed their new band, Chicas and said farewell to the Muchacho band.
The crowd warmly welcomed the Chicas, but not without a little bit of remorse for the much-loved Muchachos’ parting. The dual performance though was indeed one of a kind, and got everyone strutting their best on the dance floor in passionate, energetic salsa and meringue with huge smiles on every face.
