The coffee house explosion, which has taken over capitals worldwide, has now changed many a Beirut neighborhood. International franchises line the streets joining local cafes. As a result the streets have a more cosmopolitan feel and are buzzing at all hours.

Taking advantage of the countries temperate climate ‘al fresco’ is all the rage ; tables and chairs crowd the pavements of major squares and shopping districts, such as Hamra and Ashrafieh.

Traditionally, the shisha cafes of Beirut were pretty basic and solely reserved for men to meet up, play a game of backgammon and escape the chores of every day life. Over the past years, the pipe has gained popularity with the younger crowd in Lebanon and plush retreats now offer trendy puffers a variety of flavors to choose from while sitting back and enjoying the Beirut nightlife scene.
